Show Me Your Glory – The Cry for Deeper Relationship
Even though God had said He would not go with the people, Moses boldly intercedes once again. He pleads with God, saying, “You have said, ‘I know you by name,’” and asks, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Moses makes it clear: the Promised Land means nothing without the presence of the Promiser.
This is the heartbeat of a true relationship with God—not seeking His hand, but His face. Moses longs to know God more deeply and then makes a request that pulses with holy desire: “Show me Your glory.”
God responds in grace, telling Moses He will cause all His goodness to pass in front of him and proclaim His name, but with a limit—no one can see God's face and live. Instead, God hides Moses in the cleft of a rock and covers him with His hand as His glory passes by.
