The Seven Chosen and the Word Multiplies
Acts 6:1–7 centers on the seven chosen and the word multiplies. A complaint arises because Greek-speaking Jewish widows are being overlooked in the daily distribution. The Twelve call the whole community to choose seven reputable, Spirit-and-wisdom-filled men so the apostles can focus on prayer and the ministry of the word. The word grows and even many priests become obedient to the faith.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. Acts does not romanticize the early church as conflict-free. Spirit-formed community requires administrative justice, representation, and practical care, while word ministry and table service are treated as complementary rather than spiritually superior and inferior worlds.
