Paul’s Farewell to the Ephesian Elders
Acts 20:17–38 centers on paul’s farewell to the ephesian elders. From Miletus Paul summons the Ephesian elders for a farewell speech. He reviews humble service, tears, plots, public and house-to-house teaching, repentance and faith, his Spirit-bound journey toward affliction, and his resolve to finish the ministry received from Jesus. He charges the elders to watch themselves and the flock, warns of wolves and false teachers, commends them to God and the word of grace, recalls his own labor, quotes Jesus that giving is more blessed than receiving, then prays and departs amid tears.
