The Abandoned Child Becomes a Royal Bride
Jerusalem is portrayed as an abandoned infant whom God rescues, raises, adorns, and brings into covenant like a royal bride. The intentionally shocking allegory begins with sheer divine grace: the city’s later unfaithfulness is heinous precisely because her life, beauty, status, and gifts were received rather than self-created.
