Peace with God, Hope in Suffering, Reconciliation through Christ
Having argued that righteousness is counted through faith, Paul describes the result: peace with God through Jesus Christ, access into grace, and hope of God’s glory. Even suffering is placed inside this new reality—not because pain is good in itself, but because endurance, tested character, and hope can grow as God’s love is poured into believers’ hearts through the Holy Spirit.
Paul then grounds assurance in Christ’s death for the ungodly. The astonishing logic is not that worthy people finally persuaded God to love them; while sinners and enemies, they were reconciled through the death of God’s Son. If God acted decisively while they were enemies, Paul argues, believers can be confident of salvation through the risen life of Christ.
