Elijah Prays and the Rain Returns
In 1 Kings 18:41–46, the narrative focuses on the return of rain. This belongs to the Elijah cycle. Drought, provision, restored life, Carmel, rain, flight, Horeb, and prophetic succession reveal the LORD’s authority over life, weather, worship, kings, and prophets while Israel is being called away from Baal and back to covenant loyalty.
James explicitly says Elijah prayed again and the heaven gave rain, while 1 Kings 18 narrates Elijah’s prayer posture, the small cloud, and the returning storm. The apostolic reference interprets the event as an example of effective prayer by a fully human servant of God.
