Lydia’s Heart Opened at Philippi
Acts 16:11–15 centers on lydia’s heart opened at philippi. The mission crosses to Macedonia and reaches Philippi, a Roman colony. On the Sabbath Paul’s group goes outside the gate to a place of prayer by the river. Lydia, a seller of purple from Thyatira who worships God, listens as the Lord opens her heart; she and her household are baptized, and her home becomes a base of hospitality.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. The Lord who directs the mission also opens a hearer’s heart. Acts’ movement into Macedonia begins not in a synagogue building or palace but among praying women, and household hospitality becomes infrastructure for the gospel.
