Vessels for Honour and a Pure-Hearted People
A great house contains vessels made of different materials and used for different purposes. Timothy is urged to cleanse himself from what dishonors so that he may be “a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
Where this fits in the story: Scripture repeatedly joins holiness with being set apart for God’s use. Priestly and sanctuary objects were consecrated for holy service; the New Testament applies holiness language to God’s people. The point here is moral and ministerial readiness, not a secret code identifying fixed classes of Christians.
