Do Not Slander a Servant; A Generation without Gratitude
A servant should not be slandered to a master, and the following sayings sketch a generation that dishonors parents, imagines itself pure, carries proud eyes, and devours the poor. Folly here is social predation wrapped in self-righteousness.
Agur condemns a generation that curses fathers and refuses to bless mothers, while the Decalogue commands honoring father and mother. Proverbs therefore portrays parental dishonor as one symptom of a wider moral disorder and develops the ethical concern already stated in Exodus.
