Deceit, Counsel, Vengeance, and Honest Weights
Quick pledges, deceptive gain, gossip, disrespect for parents, and rushed inheritance all promise advantage but carry hidden cost. Wisdom instead seeks counsel, waits on the LORD rather than taking private vengeance, and practices honest economic standards.
Proverbs 20:22 says not to repay evil personally but to wait on the LORD for deliverance; Romans 12 commands believers to repay no one evil for evil and to leave vengeance to God.
Proverbs says, “Say not thou, I will recompense evil”; Paul commands that no one “render evil for evil,” carrying the wisdom prohibition on personal retaliation into church life.
