Mercy to the Poor and the Fountain of Life
Neighbor love becomes especially visible in treatment of the poor. Labor, truthfulness, and wise planning matter, but the section climaxes in the fear of the LORD as strong confidence and a fountain of life that turns people away from death’s snares.
Proverbs calls mercy to the poor blessed and grounds treatment of the vulnerable in the LORD; Jesus identifies care for the hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick, and imprisoned with service rendered to him.
