Wise Children, Righteousness, and Diligent Work
The first short sayings of the Solomonic collection move quickly through family joy, the limits of dishonest wealth, the LORD’s care, and seasonal diligence. Wisdom is immediately practical: righteousness matters more than stored treasure, and work must be done when its proper season arrives.
Proverbs praises timely diligent labor and shames sleeping through harvest; Paul commands unwillingly idle believers to work quietly and eat their own bread. Both texts affirm ordinary work as part of responsible community life.
