Corinth: Tentmaking, Opposition, and a Promise from the Lord
Acts 18:1–11 centers on corinth: tentmaking, opposition, and a promise from the lord. Paul leaves Athens for Corinth and meets Aquila and Priscilla, recently arrived because Claudius ordered Jews to leave Rome. Sharing the tentmaking trade, Paul reasons in the synagogue and, joined by Silas and Timothy, testifies that Jesus is the Messiah. Opposition shifts his focus to nearby Gentiles; synagogue ruler Crispus believes, and the Lord tells Paul in a night vision not to fear because many people in the city belong to him.
