Timothy Joins the Mission and Macedonia Calls
Acts 16:1–10 centers on timothy joins the mission and macedonia calls. Paul meets Timothy, whose Jewish mother is a believer and whose father is Greek. Paul circumcises him because of local Jewish knowledge of his mixed parentage, the churches receive the Jerusalem decisions, and the mission is repeatedly redirected by the Spirit until Paul sees a Macedonian man calling for help. The team concludes that God has called them to preach there.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. The section makes a crucial distinction: circumcision is rejected as a Gentile salvation requirement in Acts 15, yet Timothy may be circumcised for mission in a Jewish context. The Holy Spirit and 'Spirit of Jesus' direct the route, placing the risen Christ within the mission’s guidance.
