The Mystery Now Revealed: Christ in You
Paul describes his suffering and ministry in service of Christ’s body, the church. He has been entrusted with a stewardship to make the word of God fully known, especially “the mystery” hidden through ages and generations but now revealed to the saints. Its riches among the Gentiles are summarized in the astonishing phrase “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Paul therefore warns and teaches every person with the aim of presenting everyone mature in Christ.
Where this fits in the story: the Bible’s long movement toward blessing the nations reaches a new stage as the Messiah dwells among and in a multiethnic people. What was hidden is now publicly announced. This same mystery language is developed in Ephesians, where Gentiles are named as fellow heirs in the one body.
