Delivered from Darkness into the Kingdom of the Son
Paul’s prayer moves from knowing God’s will to walking in a way worthy of the Lord: bearing fruit, growing in knowledge, enduring with joy, and giving thanks. The Father has made believers fit to share “the inheritance of the saints in light,” delivered them from the authority of darkness, and transferred them into the kingdom of his beloved Son. In that Son they have redemption and forgiveness.
Where this fits in the story: the language gathers several major biblical trajectories at once—inheritance, exodus-like deliverance, light versus darkness, kingdom, redemption, and forgiveness. What Israel experienced in historical deliverance becomes part of a larger rescue in Christ: a change of realm and allegiance.
