A Son Honors His Father—But the Priests Despise God’s Name
The first major accusation falls on the priests. They know that a son should honor his father and a servant his master, yet they treat the Lord’s altar as though whatever is left over is good enough. Blind, lame, and sick animals are being presented even though Torah requires acceptable, unblemished offerings.
Where this fits in the story: Leviticus 22:17–25 and Deuteronomy 15:21 supply the sacrificial standard Malachi assumes. The priests’ failure is especially serious because their office exists to guard holy worship and teach the people.
