Breathless idols and those who trust them
Glory belongs to the LORD, not to his people. The psalm contrasts the sovereign God in heaven with manufactured idols that have mouths, eyes, ears, hands, and feet yet cannot speak, see, hear, feel, or walk. Revelation 9:20 may echo this idol polemic, but the dependence is possible rather than certain because the motif is widespread.
Psalm 115 and Habakkuk 2 both expose idols of silver and gold as lifeless works of human hands that cannot speak, act, or save. Their shared anti-idol logic contrasts manufactured gods with the living LORD and shows why trust in idols is spiritually self-defeating.
