Faith Trusts God’s Promise and His Unseen Creative Word
Hebrews describes faith as confident reality concerning what is hoped for and conviction concerning things not seen. The elders received commendation through such faith. The first example is creation itself: by faith believers understand that the worlds were framed by God’s word, so the visible order does not originate from visible materials as ultimate cause. Faith in Hebrews is not wishful thinking or a technique for making desired outcomes happen. It is a persevering response to the trustworthy God who speaks about realities not yet visible.
