Holiness, Defilement, and the Work of Their Hands
Haggai asks the priests for a Torah ruling. Holy meat carried in a garment does not make every food touched by that garment holy, but corpse impurity can be transmitted by touch. Haggai then turns the legal distinction into a prophetic diagnosis: the people cannot assume that working near a holy project automatically makes all their work acceptable.
Where this fits in the story: Leviticus 6:27 provides the holy-flesh background, while Numbers 19:11–22 explains the powerful transmission of corpse impurity. Haggai is doing Scripture-shaped moral reasoning through priestly law.
