Passage Overview · Free · Leviticus 25:39–43
Supporting an Impoverished Israelite and Limited Debt-Service
Where this fits in the story: Exodus liberation is explicit in 25:42: Israelites are YHWH's servants whom he brought out of Egypt, so Israelite kin must not be treated as permanent slaves.
Where Scripture takes it next: NT concern for poor believers and mutual care strongly resonates ethically, but no apostolic text cites this section as a direct fulfillment oracle.
Evidence boundary: Do not universalize these protections into a claim that Leviticus 25 abolishes slavery: verses 44–46 explicitly create a different rule for non-Israelites.
