Glory and the New Commandment
Once Judas leaves, Jesus announces that the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. In John, the road to glory now runs directly through betrayal, cross, and resurrection. Jesus then gives the “new commandment”: love one another as he has loved them. The command is both continuous with Torah’s call to love and new in its Christ-shaped measure and community identity. Discipleship becomes publicly recognizable not through status but through enacted self-giving love.
