Jeremiah 6:16
At the crossroads God tells the people to ask for the old paths and the good way, where they will find rest for their souls. Their tragedy is the answer: “We will not walk therein.” They likewise reject the watchmen’s warning, so even religious offerings cannot substitute for obedience.
Jeremiah calls Israel to the ancient paths where they will find 'rest for your souls'; Jesus' promise 'ye shall find rest unto your souls' closely echoes that language while locating rest in learning from him.
