Restoration on the Mountain and Praise to Israel's God
Matthew 15 asks what truly honors God and what truly makes a person unclean. Jesus condemns religious tradition when it cancels God's command, quotes Isaiah against lip-service worship, points to the heart as the source of moral evil, then travels into outsider territory where a Canaanite woman's persistent faith receives extraordinary praise. The chapter ends with more restoration and another wilderness feeding.
On a mountain beside the sea, crowds bring the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others. As people witness restoration, they glorify “the God of Israel,” wording that may be especially suggestive after the Canaanite-woman episode and in a region with Gentile presence.
Where this fits in the story: Isaiah’s restoration visions picture opened eyes, hearing, walking, and singing when God comes to save.
Where Scripture takes it next: Jesus feeds another large crowd, extending the wilderness-provision pattern.
Evidence boundary: the crowd’s exact ethnic composition is debated; “God of Israel” is suggestive but does not by itself prove every member was Gentile.
The lame, blind, and impaired are restored in a scene that continues Matthew's Isaiah 35 restoration-sign trajectory from chapters 9 and 11.
