The Sower and the Four Soils
Jesus begins the parable discourse with a familiar agricultural scene in which the same seed meets four different soils. The contrast moves attention from the quality of the seed to the reception of the word.
Where this fits in the story: prophets often use sowing, field, and harvest imagery for God’s word, judgment, and restoration. Isaiah 55 compares God’s effective word with rain and seed.
Where Scripture takes it next: Jesus immediately explains why parables both reveal and expose, then interprets the soils as different responses to the kingdom word.
