John's Question and the Signs of Restoration
From prison John asks whether Jesus is “he that should come.” Jesus answers not with a bare yes but with a cluster of restoration signs: blind see, lame walk, lepers are cleansed, deaf hear, dead are raised, and the poor receive good news. The answer sounds like Isaiah coming to life.
Where this fits in the story: Isaiah 35 and 61 associate the coming salvation of God with healing, restoration, and good news.
Where Scripture takes it next: Jesus’ miracles are therefore not isolated wonders; they function as kingdom signs identifying the character of messianic restoration.
