Where this fits in the story: “my Son” strongly evokes Psalm 2’s Davidic king, while “in whom I am well pleased” closely echoes Isaiah 42’s Spirit-endowed Servant. These backgrounds overlap without requiring the heavenly voice to be treated as a mechanical quotation formula.
Where Scripture takes it next: immediately after being named Son, Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness and tempted with the challenge, “If thou be the Son of God.” His identity becomes the point of the test.
Evidence boundary: Genesis 22’s beloved-son language is a possible secondary resonance, but Psalm 2 and Isaiah 42 are stronger immediate backgrounds. The baptism scene should not be used to imply Jesus first became God’s Son at baptism.
