Psalms 107:19–20
The third scene concerns fools whose sinful ways bring affliction until they draw near death. God sends his word, heals them, and calls forth thanksgiving and sacrifice of praise. This contributes to the Bible’s larger picture of divine mercy toward sinners, but the healing language should not be converted into a guarantee that every believer will receive immediate physical healing.
Jesus’ authoritative word releases people from demonic oppression and disease, fitting the biblical pattern of God sending his word to heal and restore. Psalm 107:19–20 is an important background text, while Isaiah’s healing-and-release promises help frame Luke’s larger Nazareth mission.
