Joshua 3:1
Joshua 3 records Israel’s miraculous crossing of the Jordan River. God’s presence, symbolized by the ark of the covenant, led the way, and the waters stopped so the people could pass on dry ground.
John’s ministry at the Jordan naturally resonates with Israel’s earlier Jordan crossings and covenant-renewal memories, including Joshua 3–4, but Luke does not explicitly invoke Joshua or present John’s baptism as a fulfillment of that event.
