Jeremiah 16:16
Judgment is not the final word. Jeremiah says a future regathering will become so great that people will remember the LORD who brought Israel from the north and many lands, just as they once confessed the Exodus from Egypt. The fishermen and hunters in the next image search people out for reckoning, so the passage holds restoration and inescapable judgment together.
Jeremiah speaks of God sending fishermen in a judgment/restoration context. Scholars debate whether 'fishers of men' deliberately echoes this text. Because the metaphor can function naturally from the disciples' occupation and Jeremiah's context differs, keep the connection possible rather than certain.
