The Risen Jesus and the Promise of the Spirit
Acts 1:1–5 centers on the risen jesus and the promise of the spirit. Luke links this second volume to his first account and insists that Jesus presented himself alive after his suffering, taught for forty days about God’s kingdom, and commanded the apostles to wait for the Father’s promised Spirit.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. Acts therefore begins not with an absent founder but with the risen Jesus continuing the kingdom story and preparing Spirit-empowered witnesses. Luke 24 and Acts 1 form a deliberate bridge: resurrection, Scripture, promise, Spirit, and mission belong to one unfolding story.
