Abraham Dies — The Promise Passes to Isaac
Genesis 25 closes Abraham's earthly life while carefully distinguishing his wider family from the covenant line. Abraham has additional sons through Keturah and gives gifts to them, but he gives all that he has to Isaac and sends the other sons eastward. The narrative is not denying God's concern for those descendants; it is marking Isaac as the son through whom the covenant promise continues.
Abraham dies "in a good old age," and Isaac and Ishmael together bury him in Machpelah, the very field Abraham purchased in Genesis 23 for Sarah. Genesis will remember this burial property repeatedly, making the small legal holding in Canaan a tangible family anchor inside a promise not yet fully possessed.
