The Vineyard, the Rejected Son, and the Rejected Stone
Jesus retells Isaiah’s vineyard world as a story of tenants who beat servants and finally kill the owner’s beloved son. He then cites the rejected stone becoming the cornerstone. The leaders recognize that the parable is aimed at them.
Where this fits in the story: prophetic rejection, beloved-son language, vineyard judgment, and Psalm 118’s rejected stone converge around Jesus’ coming death.
The point is not that God abandons his promises. It is that entrusted leadership is accountable to the owner, and rejection of the Son becomes the decisive crisis.
