The Blind Beggar Sees the Son of David
Near Jericho a blind beggar hears that Jesus is passing and cries, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” Attempts to silence him only intensify his appeal. Jesus restores his sight, and the man follows, glorifying God.
Where this fits in the story: royal messianic title, mercy, sight, faith, and praise converge. The physically blind man sees Jesus’ identity more clearly than many sighted characters.
The scene also transitions naturally toward Zacchaeus: at Jericho, Jesus restores one marginalized person through sight and another through repentant transformation.
