Do Not Cause the Little Ones to Stumble; Rebuke and Forgive
Jesus warns that stumbling blocks will come but pronounces severe accountability for causing “little ones” to stumble. He then commands repeated rebuke and forgiveness when a person repents—even seven times in a day.
Where this fits in the story: community holiness must guard both the vulnerable and the possibility of restored relationship. Forgiveness is not denial of wrongdoing; the instruction includes rebuke, repentance, and renewed forgiveness.
Luke links leadership responsibility with mercy: disciples must take sin seriously without becoming people who refuse restoration.
